About Our Church:

The Critchfield Christian and Missionary Alliance Church celebrated its 75th anniversary in September 2024. The congregation first met in the Clay Run schoolhouse under Rev. J. E. Bauman, who at the time pastored the Scullton C&MA Church. Property along Rt. 653 on Jim Mountain Road was donated and deeded to the church in 1950.

Rev. Bauman did much of the masonry himself, setting the cornerstone on June 12, 1949, with many volunteers pitching in to help. The congregation continued meeting at the Clay Run schoolhouse until the new stone building — which then included an attached parsonage — was completed in 1954. The furniture and pulpit were dedicated on January 30, 1955.

In June 1969 the church became a dual charge with the addition of Scullton C&MA, and shortly afterward merged with the Rogers Mill C&MA. In 1986 the church took a step of faith, building a new parsonage next to the church and calling its own pastor rather than sharing one with another congregation. Through faithful giving, the mortgage was paid off ahead of schedule.

In the years since, the church has been blessed with growth — both spiritually and numerically — as it has advanced technologically and weathered the COVID-19 pandemic. Full services were livestreamed during that season, and weekly sermons continue to be posted to the church's Facebook page, adding many to a growing virtual congregation.

Compensation & Support:

The pastor is paid a monthly salary that reflects district guidelines and ministry experience. A parsonage is provided along with all utilities, and the church covers the full cost of health insurance, including dental and vision. A pastoral office is available in the church building. Church finances - including invested funds and full compensation details - are discussed during candidate interviews.
